Fissure sealing

Before the caries can develop

The side teeth are crossed with small grooves and dimples—the so-called crevices or fissures—that cannot be reached with a toothbrush. These crevices form dangerous niches in which bacteria nest and ultimately cause holes—the so-called caries. The goal of a fissure sealing is to prevent caries in the grooves and dimples.

For this reason, we recommend—depending on the individual situation and age of the child—that the side teeth be sealed with a special light-curing plastic. Fissure sealing treatments are performed only in childhood and serve no purpose for adult patients.
