Nursing bottle sydrome

You can prevent it!

A disorder that leads to extremely difficult damage to the primary or baby teeth is the so-called Nursing-Bottle-Syndrome or Early Childhood Caries. Children are frequently given drinks containing sugar in little bottles to calm them or help them go to sleep. Long and frequent drinking (sucking) has the result that especially the upper front teeth are continuously flushed with sugary liquid. That is the reason that caries primarily occur there and are particularly prevalent. Treatment of a set of teeth that has been destroyed in this way is very extensive and is always a very large burden for the child.

Our recommendations

  • mainly give your child water to drink
  • avoid drinks containing sugar altogether or give them to your child very seldom
  • when you give your child juice, then only one or two times a day at mealtimes
  • brush the teeth repeatedly every day
